EXHIBITIONS OPENED CEREMONIALLY |

As announced, on November 20 between 18 and 20 o'clock, ceremonial opening (RECEPTION) of 6 artists' joint exhibitions took place in famous NORTHWEST CRAFT CENTER AND GALLERY in Seattle Center in Seattle. In relaxed atmosphere, attended by some 60 visitors, it lasted rather long, even after 22.
Four of colleagues presented artistic pottery, one she colleague jewelry and decorations from glass and metal, and my smallness - as no one else presented pictures or photography - have had two new independent exhibitions: 27 painting with 40 items and 6 artistic photos with 27 color photos (7th and 8th American). Small change in number of items occurred due to delayed and unnecessary intervention of the Gallery curator, after setting of the exhibition was already done! Very embarrassing, stressful situation emerged, resulting in compromise: changes in setting of the boats group and one oil where omitted, while in photography 4 photos less where placed, since the exhibition, instead at one common wall, upon curator's demand, was split into two opposing walls, which surely was not better solution. However, the most important is that I have completed everything timely, and my concept of the exhibition setting was maintained. With officially presented items, at separate bench I have exposed items for sale and certain number of my catalogues from 50th, jubilee exhibition, books I.F. Raic and some 45 graphics and photos. I also have reduced significantly prices of oils and aquarelles, since the Gallery would not agree to add to my prices less than 100%, which would be really too much for buyers!
I am especially glad that my invitation to the exhibition was responded by more than 30 of our people who live in Seattle and neighboring cities. There were whole families gathered, and due to atmosphere and language spoken, it looked rather like exhibition somewhere in Bosnia than in the hearth of America!
Couple more days in America, and my return to Sarajevo follows, where I would arrive on December 2.

My son Zlatko and wife Taiba have luckily arrived so, after nearly 5 years, we are all together again. In Seattle, if not possible in Sarajevo! We use any moment to be together, because soon we shall have to be apart again. Meanwhile, I have received invitation to have exhibition with several local artists in, already, “my” NCC Gallery in Seattle Center, in prestigious term for main holidays. Such an invitation could not be turned down, and we have soon agreed on all details: four artists will present pottery, one of them sculptures, and I will go with two parallel exhibitions: „ME, AGAIN“ (my 27-th independent painter’s exhibition with 41 oil, aquarelle and computer graphics) and „SSSW“ (Seattle-Sarajevo-Sea-Waterfall, 31 color photography at my 61st independent artistic photo exhibition). Ceremonial opening, RECEPTION, as they call it here, is on Friday, November 20, 6-8 PM, and the exhibition will be opened until December 31. This is also main reason why I am late with this message, since I have had to prepare lot of things, to have everything at level that this Gallery deserves. Chances for sale are really small, firstly due to my high prices and secondly (even more!) due to total abstinence of the artistic items buyers since the crisis culminated. Previous exhibition in the same area with some 70 pictures and 12 or more authors, with dozen of exceptional peaces at really minimal prices, ended yesterday, without a single picture soled! Due to such situation, I gave up from pursue for a new gallery in old part of Seattle City and in Edmonds; it might take 1 – 2 years to wait for economy to get better. Also, I am quite fed up of exhibitions; it is time for me to get back to the painting.

While the impressions from the 50-th Exhibition have not settled jet, I am already 12-th day in America! The journey was splendid and upon brief relaxation within my second part of the family, where central place belongs to our beautiful granddaughter Mia, I have commenced with roving, tennis, photographing, galleries.
So few of them remain active, it is sad to even look at all those which where crowded with people and pieces of art until couple of years ago! It is understood that my first visit I have paid to the NCC GALLERY in Seattle Center, my kind guide Coleen Yai and my permanent sale exhibition of the computer graphics, which lasts in this Gallery since November 2007. The sale is unwell, suited to the time and circumstances here.
I have decided to commence talks in nearby Edmonds first, beautiful and wealthy city at the Pacific coast, where since recently my son Zlatko lives. There are only 3 galleries here, one of which joins local Northwest painters. After that, I am going to “attack” Downtown in Seattle, since this year, at „Croatia Fest 2009“ only women artists take part (it would, anyway, be too much of me to be there three years in sequence as the exhibitor).
Meeting some old acquaints made me happy too, especially my Hajrudin Dedić, who I haven’t seen for last 4-5 years. It surprised me how many people here has watched NTV “Hayat’s” reports on my smallness. The satellite program of this renown TV house is obviously massively followed in homes of our people here, lacerated between desires and possibilities.
Next week we are going to get completed; my Taibica and Zlaja are coming, so – after more than 5 years – we shall be all together again, if not in Sarajevo, than here, in remote America. I wish them lucky and pleasant journey, such as mine was, thanks God.
